America's real party system-Part 1

[Every now and then something I read produces a critical reaction that impels me to focus on the background historical and other assumptions that I take for granted  in my thinking.  This article is the first in a series that developed as I took note of my reaction to a piece about the significance and possible future of the Tea Party movement.  Labor Day has traditionally marked the formal kick-off of the "campaign season" in American politics.  It seems an appropriate day to publishing a series that aims to help readers think through the political reality veiled by the appearance of the so-called two-party system. ] Not long ago I read an article signed J. R. Dunn that offered a plausible history of the relationship between conservatives and the GOP.  It portrays a party in which the “liberal” tail has usually been  wagging the  “conservative dog”, the exception being the era ...

America's real party system- Part 3

If, during eras of elite ascendancy, the two most visible parties are tools of elite manipulation, then there is at all times a third party involved in all our political activities.  It is the populist party, normally divided against itself by successful elite manipulation.  In terms of its potential, it is always the majority party.  The notion that “third parties fail” is therefore less an observation of fact than a statement of elite intention. In the past, some pervasive material or moral passion occasionally roused this third party to unify under its own leadership .  In our current circumstances the unifying impulse comes in reaction against the elite itself.  There is a widespread sense that the nation suffers from a general failure of elite leadership (in particular, the failure of both elite manipulated parties),  a failure connected with the elite's cynical, purely self-aggrandizing ambition.  The Obama faction's open contempt for ...

America's real party system-Part 2

In the years that followed the Lincoln era, the United States faced a new organizational imperative.  As in the post-Jackson era, it involved continental expansion.  But in addition to this there were  the material challenges of accommodating new technology’s rapid transformation of economic life, and the moral challenge of reconstituting the nation’s unity despite the persistent post-traumatic stresses still reverberating from the Civil War. These challenges allowed the elite to regain a leadership position, this time co-opting the populist moral passion of the Lincoln era with ideas of national destiny and administrative reform. The result was  an era of unprecedented elite ascendancy marked off by the two Roosevelts, the Republican, Teddy and the Democrat, FDR.  Their familiar nicknames represent the complete submergence of elite ascendancy in the streams of populist passion.  They signify the virtually complete success of the elite divisional strategy. The two Roosevelts aptly represent this success.  Their family relationship ...

Is Lakin’s court-martial an American ‘Dreyfus affair’?

I doubt that most people would be shocked to learn that sometimes the influence of power can interfere with and even derail the course of justice in our legal system.  Behind the scenes, a phone call from a powerful politician, or a corporate mogul often affects the actions or judgments of people whose personal ambitions they are in a position to help or hinder.  Usually though, people giving heed to such considerations have enough sense to cloak what they do with words or actions that give their corruption at least the appearance of probity.  Maybe its the tribute that vice renders to virtue.  Maybe its nothing more than self-serving prudence (the mask of honesty that facilitates corruption.) However, when court officers conclude that such hypocrisy is no longer worth the effort, things are pretty far gone.  The video featured with this post  focuses on the recent decision by Col. Denise R. ...

Planned Parenthood’s moral insanity

Daily Brief #13 The video featured on this page is a news report out of Texas about a pro-life billboard campaign just launched there by the Radiance Foundation and the Life Education Resource Network (L.E.A.R.N.).  It’s an effort to focus attention on the disproportionate number of nascent blacks being murdered in Texas under the rubric of abortion rights. What especially provoked my interest was criticism of the project from a Planned Parenthood spokeswoman quoted in the report.  “This is about trying to interfere with women making private personal decisions and unfortunately and really shockingly, this group has decided to use racism as a wedge issue,” Rochelle Tafolla said. “We think that  is just reprehensible…” So its reprehensible to focus an individual’s attention on the impact her individual action has on her community.  Could there be a more perfect illustration of Planned Parenthood’s moral insanity? In many U.S. communities today local laws encourage or even ...

Was Jesus a leader?

Daily Brief #12 “Asked who would be considered conservative Christian leaders today- with Graham in his 90s and the recent death of Jerry Falwell – Land said that “leaders are leaders because people follow them.”  So says Richard Land. Every year as we approach the commemoration of Christ’s passion, crucifixion and resurrection the people Jesus has saved recall his triumphal entry into Jerusalem. And the most part of the multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut branches from the trees, and spread them in the way.  And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.” Judging by the multitudes that followed him, and the words of Richard Land, in this grand triumphal entry, Jesus was a leader. But after he drove the money lenders from the Temple, confounded the ...

A Meditation on Glenn Beck’s Divine Mission

[I have been in prayerful thought about the events taking place this weekend under Glenn Beck’s auspices.  He portrays them as the beginning of a Great Revival of faith in America.  People I know and think well of are involved.  Yet I find I cannot ignore the check in my spirit that prevents me from accepting that the events or their sponsor are what he professes them to be.  This posting is an effort to lay out the elements that contribute to my misgivings, insofar as they are susceptible to articulation.  Herein I attempt to share a train of thought and the destination toward which  it points.   Is it the right one? With God’s help, time may tell.] Glenn Beck: “I mean, the one part of culture that I am doing a lot of is faith.  But general faith.  We have got to get back to our churches, our synagogues, our mosques, ...

Obama Threatens Keyes and other Eligibility Plaintiffs

February 14, 2009 · 69 comments

As many of you know, I am party to one of the lawsuits seeking evidence that would help to establish, one way or the other, whether Obama in fact meets the U.S. Constitution’s eligibility requirements for the office of President of the United States. To understand my view of the critical issues involved see the WND articles The End of the Constitutional Republic, and Obama, Oaths and the End of Constitutional Government.) Now Obama’s lawyers have filed a motion to quash our effort to obtain the relevant documents (cf. Bob Unruh’s WND article Sanctions sought in eligibility case.) I am told that it includes a demand that monetary penalties be assessed against me and the other plaintiffs in the suit. Though not unexpected, this motion confirms Obama’s ruthless determination to destroy anyone who continues to seek the information the Constitution requires. Why should they demand penalties against citizens who are simply seeking the enforcement of the Supreme Law of the Land? It is simply because their persistence runs contrary to the will of a supposedly popular demagogue? This smacks of tyrannical arrogance. That Obama thus signals his intent to bring financial ruin on those who won’t accept his cover-up of the circumstances of his birth is a tactical escalation. It confirms the common sense suspicion that he won’t act forthrightly in this matter because he has something to hide.

As one of the targets of this escalation, I need no more convincing proof of the ruthless disposition so far successfully masked by his empty rhetoric of hope and change. Obviously he means to offer hope only to those willing to surrender their most basic rights. To any who insist on questioning his actions, he offers the drastic change of ruin and destruction. So be it. We shall be among those who learn firsthand the meaning of the sacrifices made by the Founders of our free republic, as they pledged and gave up their lives, their fortunes and the world’s esteem.

To tell you the truth, I expected Obama’s ruthlessness, as I expect that it will escalate until his threats extend to liberty and even life itself. Tyrants are like that (yeah, they are.) What I am not so certain of is the disposition of the people of this country, and in particular of those who still avow allegiance to the Constitutional Republic. For all their posturing in opposition to Obama’s socialist schemes, Republican Party leaders show no disposition to notice, much less decry, his determination to subvert the Constitution. But does the self-serving reticence of such so-called leadership truly represent the disposition of the people whose sovereignty they seem so ready to abandon? In politics as in war, real leadership does not consist in titles and position, but in those willing to stand in the forefront of the battle, where taunts and wounds and even death await the ones who raise a rallying flag. The fate of that flag depends, however, not on their willingness to brave the dangers, but on the courage and heart of those who, seeing that flag, return with renewed courage to the fight. Though they know not if it will stand or fall, will they decide that either way it should not meet its fate without them?

People who have been watching recent events with any discernment must realize by now that, for all his talk of material salvation for the masses, the Obama faction really means to strengthen only those willing to serve in the army of their domineering ambition. Thanks to the phony stimulus package, they will soon have billions of taxpayer dollars with which to nourish this servile allegiance to his will. Including myself, many of the people willing to articulate and act against his overthrow of Constitutional liberty have nothing in their coffers except the grace from God to see a little truth, and the courage to speak it, drawing upon the example of His Son. But time and again in America’s history, a little truth has been sufficient to reach into the reserve of love for God and liberty on tap in the patriot hearts and consciences of those who would be free.

So to my fellow plaintiffs with the courage to stand firm, and to all those who may lose by the price they pay for it, I say keep faith and pray- not so much for yourselves as for the heart and conscience of the good people of your country. Trust that there still burns a candlelight of liberty within them, and a thought for those who would rather be consumed as its wick than surrender to the wickedness that now seeks its destruction.

Worth considering? Then don’t forget to DIGG IT!!!!

Mr. Alan Keyes

Dear Sir.

I am so happy that you are doing what´s right for the United States of America. Please do not stop, even if it takes you to paths of inferno, because to be honest with you Mr. Keyes, the Democrat Party and others, will do whatever they can to stop you and to make you suffer, in order to portect their messiah Obama. They will use any way of intimidation to harass you.

Once all this is unfolded, and the messiah Obama is found guilty as charge, the Democrat Party will be isolated for years and years to come. I mean no one will believe in the Democrat Party, not even in a thousand years. The messiah Obama, will be prosecuted for treason. Members of higher ranking in the Democrat Party, will be prosecuted for treason the same way.

Anything the messiah Obama signed in to law, will be undone.

Mr. Keyes, please keep it on, you´ll win this batle, because you aren´t alone.

God bless you, and God bless the United States of America once more.

Truthfully,
J C Delgado

Obama is a Sign of the World Entering Islam

He is a sign that Islam victory awaited. And he was selected with the concept of Islam to become president. Old concept of form from which they have abandoned. And replaced with the concept of Islam is that he take and what he would give. Thus, he ignores personality profile and the focus on important national issue for the people of the United States.

I am not an attorney, but I did some research several years ago and I recall seeing a Supreme Court ruling with words similar to those used the post by Icarus. The court said it’s ruling must do what is “necessary and proper for the continued survival and future prosperity of our nation”.

I understood those words to mean: Our government will do what ever is … “necessary and proper for the continued survival and future prosperity of our nation”.

Saying that, I believe those in government will take what ever steps necessary to prevent the subject of Obama’s eligibility from receiving a proper hearing because they are afraid of what would happen if it was proved Obama should be removed from office.

There is no telling what would happen, but it would certainly cause great civil unrest and a loss of confidence in our nation as a whole. I believe those in government who are fighting you are afraid this issue could stop … ” the continued survival and future prosperity of our nation” … as we know it now.

We should expect the courts to use any and every excuse necessary to prevent this from coming to a head.

Please, keep up the good work and do not give up!

If bo will not produce a legal, live birth certificate — and not a false one like the one on his website — then we must, for the sake of our democracy begin proceedings IMMEDIATELY TO REMOVE HE AND HIS FAMILY FROM 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE. He will have hijacked our country by not adhering to our Constitution. He has ALREADY begun proceedings to hijack this country in many more ways than this. He is moving at the “SPEED OF LIGHT”. The things he is pulling off are unprecedented in history – except maybe by Adolph Hitler. Once he has tied up our banking system we will have no choice but subservience to him.

PEOPLE: THE TIME IS NOW TO TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY! AMERICA’S SECOND REVOLUTION IS HERE.

ACCORDING TO JOHN HANCOCK one of America’s founding father’s —-
when faced with tyranny, “resistance is so far from being criminal, that it becomes the Christian and the social duty of each individual…We trust you will still continue steadfast…but with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which Heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us.” ……………………………… Feb. 9, 1774, the Provincial Congress of Massachusetts, John Hancock presiding.

It is imperative for us to organize and NOT ALLOW this TRAVESTY to happen. LET THE SECOND REVOLUTION BEGIN NOW!

Our Borders have been breached,a REAl President would have secured them, then rounded up every illegal alein and deported them, there are approx. 30 million illegal’s in the United States today, with them gone, American’s would have job’s and there would be NO need for a stimulus package. Our industry’s have left the United States for cheaper labor, sorry but if you do not return,we will not import your products, made in America means quality, not quanity,Our small indipendant businesses have been rendered extinct, they were the stepping stones of this great nation,WE THE PEOPLE WILL SURVIVE,WE WERE THEN, WE WILL NOW.For you people who are so fired up to become communist, please go visit the graves of those who fought and died to keep this Country FREE,because in the very near future you may have to fight for what you beleave in…let me refraise that…you may have to fight.Freedom is not cheap, but it is a choice that many of us will keep til death do WE part.
It does’nt take much to realize what is happening to OUR COUNTRY and there is only one march to make and that is to take back our Country for, WE THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE,OF THE PEOPLE.
For those who did not understand Mr.Keyes…HE was to be,is the voice of WE THE PEOPLE,it is WE who have to make and keep that first step,it is WE who have to stand shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm ,hand in hand,to keep AMERICA FREE,IT IS OUR FIGHT,not just one’s,but all of us!Our CONSTITUTION is regarded as trash,WE are being trampled on this very second and it will get alot worse….By the way GOD help’s those who help themself’s and this is way beyond politic’s now and the thunder is getting LOUDER FROM THE GRAVES OF THOSE WHO FOUGHT TO KEEP THIS COUNTRY FREE!!!.

I’ve been following this topic for about a month now, but what has hit me square between my teary eyes tonight in parsing through these comments is the fact that hundreds of thousands of men and women gave their lives in battle for the constitutional freedoms that are now being trampled on by the very government that sent them in harms way. We are on the verge (on many domestic and foreign fronts) to throw away everything that made this country what it is. May God have mercy on us…

Dr. Keyes, God bless, protect and provide for you in this fight, for it is a worthy one.

Patricia, You obviously are rather uninformed and uneducated regarding the FACTS! The truth is the majority did not vote for Obama. You need to check out the vote of the people. And as for those who did vote for him, most were swayed by personality and too lazy to seek out truth, or had their own selfish agendas.
It sounds to me like you are following what you believe to be the popular opinion. Its a pipe dream. There will always be the 5% who make the most noise, but there is always still the 95% who do not agree.
I encourage you to seek out the truth without predisposition to the extreme left. You might learn something and even be surprised.
One last point, the Truth stands whether you agree with it or not.

Thank you Mr. Keyes (Patricia – that is the correct spelling, by the way), for standing for truth at all cost! God bless you richly!

Mr. Keys give it up!! In case you have not noticed an overwhelming majority of the American people voted for President Obama. In addition, they feel he has sufficiently answered the question regarding his citizenship adequately. Only you and your (however few) followers seem to have a problem with the findings. Lastly, for once be honest with your motives, you don’t love and respect this country. You love your political party, and if the country fails when your not in office,so be it. Thank God our country is spared the likes of you to our high office. Perhaps in your idle time ( in between law suites) you can be a productive member of society and help to bring this country back to the high standard we are accustomed to, rather than be the voice of the neigh sayer. You remember those days don’t you? The days before the last administration ran our beloved country to the ground? In short, if you love this country and its constitution, respect it and the President we elected to run it. And for GOd’s sake stop whining!!!

SuperNatural,
Sir, you’re points are filled with logical fallacies. You frame your statements to imply a thing, and when called on these implied arguments you claim you never made the statement. This behavior leaves your fallacious insults un-founded, and your character in question. America is based upon the constitution, which is the basic rule of law that our society has agree to live by. If a society does not agree to live by the rule of law, then that society must live by the rule of force. There is no middle ground, although it may seem otherwise. The question at hand is not the state of our economy, nor whom won or lost in a political race, nor even whom is conservative or liberal, in fact, parties do not matter in the current debate. The question at hand is simply this, are we all playing by the same rule book, and accountable to the same “agreed to” standard. If Obama is not qualified to be president (and I am not saying that is the case) – then he should not be president, the same is true of McCain or anyone else. If a candidate is qualified and runs for office, he should present proof of eligibility upon request, or step down, that’s the right and proper thing to do (it’s also the lawful thing to do). If you want to change the rules, do it legally as provided for by that document called The Constitution of the United States of America, and then we can all agree to live by that rule (but first read the reasons behind the requirement, you may decide it’s a good idea to keep that requirement unchanged). Even athlete’s are expected to play, and win, by the rules of the game, and this is of much greater consequence then a game.

In general-
Think, are the current actions being taken, necessary and proper for the continued survival and future prosperity of our nation? These laws were put in place to protect your liberties as well as mine. If a politician is not required to live within the law, what then shall we expect of the citizens? I am encouraged that you claim to be more independent then partisan, but don’t stop there. Continue to increase your education, and begin thinking on a bigger scale. Don’t let the economy be your gravest concern, you can always make more money, your republic government and your liberty may be lost forever if you are not careful (no matter who is in office). If you truly want to understand why our nation is in the current financial crises, and therefore hope to find a solution to this problem without giving up liberty or acquiescing to lawlessness as a part of the bargain, I would recommend extensive reading from history, beginning with the men that created this republic. I personally have never setup a republican form of government, I do not know of anyone personally that has, therefore I am not experienced in the matter- However, I do know of people who have done it, and quite successfully, and they placed in writing the dangers we could expect to our liberties, and how to avoid them. One of the essential ingredients we need for a successful republic is an enlightened and educated voting citizenry; another ingredient is to have virtuous leaders governing over these citizens.

Leaders that put a priority on protecting and defending their national and state constitutions, and by default through these actions, protect the liberties of their citizens, even above their own personal gain. What we do not need, are leaders that pit the citizens against each other, by rewarding the unproductive, at the expense of the productive (Robin-Hood Taxation methods). Politicians that practice this do so in an attempt to win the (majority) votes of the least productive in society. These actions lead only to greater laziness and entitlement thinking within the population. The thinking goes, why should I work when I can have my politician take your grossly exaggerated salary away and give it to me… Do you suppose our nation can survive forever by spending more then it produces, and paying interest on the difference? Could you do this in your personal accounts, if not how do you suppose the government can do it- it is a financial flaw that leads to bankruptcy. There is much talk in financial circles regarding the national and global lenders of last resort- I am wondering who will be the global bankruptcy court of last resort. How much interest do you suppose is due on 10 Trillions of dollars? And to whom are we the people paying this interest to? And where did they get the money to lend us? Does this money (and I use that term loosely) even exist, are you familiar with the term fiat currency? How is it that “we” the people became indebted, and to whom exactly do we owe this money and interest to?…. Inquiring minds want to know, don’t you?

I think these ingredients (enlightened, educated and virtuous citizens) are lacking in our present circumstance (for several decades now). If you think I am mistaken, I challenge you to read former President Andrew Jackson’s veto message concerning the chartering of The Bank of the United States, written in 1832. It is quite enlightening. It details the problems and dangers inherent with placing a monopoly of the national monetary system in the hands of a private corporation (which by the way is another one of those items protected against in the constitution, which our leaders chose to ignore in 1913). If you read it, ask yourself one question. How could a president from 1832 be so informed regarding banking, financing, constitutional law, treaties, taxation, liberty, and commonsense connect the dots type logical analysis- as compared to the 21st century citizen with 4, 7, or an even greater number of years of college education, gained at supposedly the best universities in the world- Why can’t today’s well educated citizens compete intellectually with the educated man of 1832, or even 1776? How is it he knew so much regarding the subjects of dealing with this form of government, it’s taxation, it’s financial system? And why aren’t we as a nation as educated in these areas? Perhaps our education has been misguided? What we need is to stop bickering and start working together, we are in the same ship, if my ship sinks so does yours no matter who the captain is at the time of the sinking! We as a people need to do what is right, not what is convenient or easy. We need to do this for our nation, and our children, and humanity in general. Let’s try working together, using reason and dialogue as our tools, so we as a nation don’t have to resort to force and violence, again.

I was hoping on a response from Mr Keyes himself. Oh well you’ll do for now.
SUPER NATURAL *SIGH*
You say that Obama’s birth certificate was posted online, I could post the queen of England’s birth records online but that does not prove that it is authentic.” IF HE IS A LEGAL CITIZEN” then why would he not STOP, this uncertainty and show his doubters that he is a legal citizen (?)
-Well most of america doesn’t care about it. Lemme ask you, Will him showing his birth certificate help the workers who lost jobs due to the recession? If it will I’ll join you in pressuring him to show it, but in reality you know the truth. It won’t help anyone but the politicians who are against him. And show me in my previous post where I stated “it was genuine”
I just said it was posted online and went on to say we need to worry about other things. Fight this battle later once things have stabilized in America, or better yet exercise your right to vote in 2012.

You say that people like us will believe what we want! We often hear slams from people like you ( idiotic, laughing, stock, and I love this one – halting progress and using fear tactics, your president, has done just this ) that do not uphold a legal constitutional government.
-If you’re an American citizen he should be your president too? I’m assuming you are. I loathed George W. Bush and his policies but he was still my president. And yes the Bush administration used nothing but fear tactics to run the country, “If we don’t do this the terrorists will attack and kill you!” Sounds like a fear tactic to me. And Mr Keye’s “he will destroy the country” comment. Yep you guessed it another fear tactic.
I’m glad you “love” my wording. Who knows maybe I’ve made a difference.

Obama challengers, on this issue and others believe in a legal constitutional government, and if no challenge are made then we may fined our self’s living in a dictatorship – thus kissing democracy good-bye.
-I believe in government. I mean at least I honor the american people’s choice in voting. Something you seem to have forgotten.

Lets not forget his thoughts and comments on having a citizen military, to help govern! WOW! So much for freedom of though, speech, and living your life on your on trems.
-What fantasy world are you trapped in? I get to live by my terms. I mean i wish i had a little more money but hey in a recession, it happens. And what are you doing now? Seems like excercising your right to free speech?

The old phrase: Ignorance, is bliss – becomes new again, and ever so true in your case.
-Ignorance. Coming from an someone like you who’d rather meddle in USELESS battles that won’t benefit anyone but select few. I think you need to check yourself before you pick a try to a fight with me on this matter. Let me reinterate for you. Fight this battle after our country has stabilized, or be patient sit it out and vote in 4 years.

Brian- I know a Brian. lol But enough with the chit chat. Let us dance.
Super Natural… that’s a nice name, but anyways your coment “-On the contrary and sorry to burst your bubble, but millions of “conservatives” say that. Not millions of Americans”. suggests that “conservatives” are not americans.
-In what way did my speech lead you to belive that conservatives aren’t american. Palin did enough of trying to alienate conservatives from liberals so cut that out.

I personally am a conservative. Republican all the way no doubt about it. I, in my short life, have never heard a republican, no matter how upset he was with the democratic party, even hint at the idea that democrats are not americans. I’m not saying that it hasn’t happened, i’m just saying that I have not heard of it happening. It’s people like you, Super Natural, that are the reason that republicans and democrats do not usually get along. I respect your right to say things like that as do most of the reblicans, but I believe it is extremely presumptuous of you to make such an outrageous claim. I will admit that me being only 18 years old, i do not know follow politics as much as i should, so i dont know much about politics but I do know a thing know a thing or two about respect, and you my friend have a lot to learn about the concept.
- Respect? You may wanna relay that message to alot of the conservative voices before you try to teach me something. And before you assume that republicans don’t make asinine comments i’ll glady show you one. Read it if you want. I doubt you will But hey I tried.

Now Brian by the language you’re using I led to belive that you think die hard liberal bent on the decimation of the republican party. Quite the contrary! I’m actually more of an independent
but the evident failure of the last presidency has moved me to take up a side, for now. If the republicans can actually bring something useful to the table then they earned my vote, but as of late the republicans bring nothing to the table that can have any real impact on the welfare of the country. They’re quite reminisent of a spoiled child saying “no” to everything since they can’t haver it their way. And I’m sorry but I’m not gonna stand for that. I’m 25 so we’ve seen about the same but I have my view and you have yours. And Brian try this, broaden your horizons and look into more than one view cause that “republican all the way” comment makes you seem really narrow minded.
