Kagan also disqualified by ignorance of Ninth Amendment

Speaking of unalienable rights, the GOP's handling of the Kagan nomination thus far offers new evidence that the Party's current leadership remains obtusely indifferent to the tragic watershed Kagan's nomination represents for the American republic.  In response to a question from Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, she refused to support the fundamental notion that all people have unalienable rights.  With the deceitful pseudo-cleverness now characteristic of those hostile to the principles of the Constitution, she pretended that as a Supreme Court justice she would be obliged to deal only with the rights enumerated in the Constitution. Of course this seemingly astute maneuver simply confirms her incompetent or willful ignorance of the Constitution's provisions.  The ninth amendment clearly states that   "the enumeration in the Constitution of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the ...

Report from the road

Since last Wednesday I've been traveling, mainly to attend and speak to a Faith and Liberty conference in Denver, CO over the weekend.  Hence the hiatus in postings. Yesterday I also had the great privilege and satisfaction of meeting Walter Hoye, the inspiring pro-life champion from California, and Bishop Porter one of the stalwart and outspoken Christian leaders of efforts in Colorado to restore respect for the God-given rights family and innocent life. We all participated in a press conference in support of Amendment 62, through which the people of Colorado will have the chance to affirm the truth that human offspring are persons not property. To learn more, visit the Personhood Colorado website.  I would urge not only pro-lifers, but all people who care about our preserving our unalienable rights and the liberty we derive from them, to support this cause in any way you can.  So far, this is the ...

What was Shirley Sherrod’s real offense?

They say that in war truth is the first casualty. If so, the experience of Shirley Sherrod points to the potentially tragic truth about America's present political situation. On Monday night Fox news reported the story of an episode in which, as a USDA official "she appeared to deny a farmer help because he was white…." In fact, the remarks were only part of a seemingly edifying account of how she felt and overcame the impulse of racial resentment so that "working with him helped me to see that it wasn't just a black and white issue." Andrew Breitbart's anti-socialist website Biggovernment.com began the sequence of events that reportedly led a USDA deputy undersecretary to inform Sherrod that "the White House wanted her to resign... They called me twice… the last time they asked me to pull over the side of the road and submit my resignation on ...

Why Obama is America’s most (not post-) racial politician

I just read a piece by Dick Morris, the former high level Bill Clinton operative now accepted as a  politically savvy "conservative" pundit. In "The End of the Post-racial Presidency" he appears to lament the fact the "Obama is letting his supporters strip away his image of a post-racial president by their increasingly racial rhetoric and his support for radical black activists." Then he joins the pack of GOP partisans that has gleefully played up "Attorney General Eric Holder's refusal to prosecute the new Black Panther members so obviously guilty of racial intimidation at the Philadelphia polling places in 2008." After alluding to Obama's pathetic effort to portray as racists people demanding enforcement of U.S. immigration laws, he concludes that Obama "is increasingly taking sides in the old racial debates, reigniting them and lending new fuel to their flames. He is…retreating into the racial cocoon of a supportive ...

U.S. power elite demands rejection of Creator God?

Back in 2008 I went to Des Moines, Iowa to participate in the debate among candidates for the Republican presidential nomination sponsored by the Des Moines Register. During a radio interview I was doing in that context, the interviewer made a remark (while we were chatting off air, as I recall) that came back to me today as I read Professor Angelo Codevilla's eye-opening piece, America's Ruling Class and the Perils of Revolution.  The interviewer bluntly observed that given my commitment to God and liberty, the GOP leadership must look upon me as a traitor to my class. I think there are fewer people today than at the time who would fail to understand what he meant. Thanks to Professor Codevilla's perspicacious piece, there will soon be fewer still. (I realize that 'perspicacious' is one of those polysyllabic words the "dumb 'em down" stylists say we should avoid, but ...

Throw the Dems out- a sequel

For today's article at WorldNetDaily I chose to share with WND's larger audience the piece I posted here on Monday about what I think needs to be the first objective in the November election for voters anxious to preserve constitutional liberty in the United States. In it I say bluntly that the very best outcome would be to vote all the Democrats out. I also make clear that handing the Republicans an overwhelming majority will not by itself guarantee the failure of those who seek to overthrow the U.S. Constitution. It will simply put the GOP on the spot with no excuse for failing unequivocally to reject the socialist coup the Obama faction is determined to carry out. People who insist on believing that the socialists and so-called liberals in the Democrat Party are alone responsible for the threat to American liberty may misunderstand what I have written ...

'Despicable him', aka NASA's fractured fairy tale

DAILY BRIEFS #5 I just saw an AP report that "The White House is contradicting the NASA administrator's claim that...Obama assigned him to reach out to Muslims on science matters....White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that such activities are not among Bolden's assigned tasks.  He said administration officials have spoken with NASA about the matter." Okay.  What are the odds that a sane official would make up such a story?  If Charles Bolden fabricated or imagined such an assignment, a psychiatric evaluation would seem to be in order.  So what's easier to believe, that the NASA Administrator has been taken over by Islamophilic aliens, or that the Obamanauts are ( dare we say it) lying? If they are telling the truth, we should expect to get prompt word of Bolden's resignation;  or at the very least, of his long planned departure for a much needed rest. If they're not telling the truth ...

Time to Throw Da Bums Out!

April 12, 2009 · 41 comments

On Saturday I gave the keynote speech at the Pittsburgh Tea Party Event where several thousand people gathered to protest the spending frenzy in Washington, the leap into socialism and the destruction of our constitutional liberty. Ted Voron was good enough to post video of the speech on YouTube, embedded here below, in four parts.

Dr. Keys, Your speech was so very eloquent and was perfectly represented and orated exactly how we think, believe and feel, but could not express it as well. You even spoke of things we forgot to remember. that we should never forget. Thank you. Thank you. And God Bless you and yours always.

Awesome!

Sadly, though, I did hear some boos when Dr. Keyes mentioned protecting innocent life in the womb. Much like some “libertarian” at the Tea Party Nation pseudo convention where another usurper, Sarah Palin, was speaking. This woman mentioned how “social” issues shouldn’t be a part of the the movement.

Pathetic, hypocritical libertarians. All for individual rights except the most basic one of all. I hope they don’t let a single issue be divisive.

Smoking Gun Finally Found?

Question: Could it be true that the President’s Occidental College Records have been released, in compliance with a court order and, if true, was this the hot potato that required a global detractor, such as the Swine Flu Pandemic or a DHS Extremist Alert Targeting Veterans?

My recent Blog reveals the release of college transcripts on President Obama, from Occidental College, in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California and that his transcripts indicate that he, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate, a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama’s qualifications for the presidency-You Decide:

It may so be…no, it certainly is the case that if the people could be restored to a pure Christian faith, America would be revived even now and spared the judgments prepared. He is the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father, except through Him.

But, too many do not want life. Americans have, in the main, consciously chosen deception and death. I cannot understand why, but I cannot deny that it is so. On what basis will you persuade them to accept He who is salvation and the true word of God when they knowingly desired liars to lead them into destruction?

Save all those who are willing to hear the truth. Lift up your voice, and fear not what man can do. I cannot promise you that the nation will be saved, but such as may yet be rescued, I leave to you. The lawful prey are more than sufficient.

Dr. Keyes,
I have been following your work since your initial campaign for the republican nomination for president. You were and still are the most qualified and suitable candidate for the office.
However, as you must know, the powers that be will never allow you to come within a mile of the presidency. Should you ever get within a hundred miles I would greatly fear for your safety.
When it comes to pass that the people of our great nation awake from their slumber, should God Himself remove the veil from our eyes, should we once again turn from our self indulgence and apathy and embrace the free gift of true liberty that comes from God alone and cannot be subverted by those who would enslave our bodies though never our spirits, hearts and minds, then and only then will we be a nation worthy of the guidance and protection of the Almighty. Then and only then through no power or resolve of our own but through His awesome power and reliable guidance will it be possible to know the right path, and to follow it.
Surely you must know that the forces allied against our nation, our heritage as Americans, and our liberty as children and heirs of The One True King are no mere men but rather the demons of hell that enslave them and through them seek to enslave us. Forgoing all hope of heaven, whether knowingly or in ignorance they worship their true master. The power allied against us, the power behind each despot and would be dictator is none other than satan himself.
In your speech today you referenced, the true nature of our calamity. We have left the path of our forefathers, we have strayed from the will or our Heavenly Father and we as prodigal sons and daughters have wasted the inheritance that was our birthright. It may not be and surely has not been the case through history that revelation precedes revolution. But as it concerns the nation that we both so dearly love, it is historical and imperative.
If we as a people gather ourselves from the ashes of this once great and noble republic only to kindle man made fire then our latter state will surely be far more damning than the former and all hope of seeing America renewed shall be forever lost to us.
It is my sincere prayer that in seeking to rally the masses to our cause that we first understand the necessity of rallying the lost to their God. Without revival any coming revolution is sure to be bloody, brutal and in it’s terrible end, utterly without purpose. If instead we can rally mens hearts to the flag of their True King, if revival precedes revolution then it may just be possible that we can reclaim our heritage, and our liberty without ever firing a single shot.
It is no small task for great men to remain humble and true to their greater cause and calling. I pray that you remain humble and may God richly bless you and yours in all your endevours.

We are taking back our country, we are not going to be intimidated and if they try we only get louder and grow more in masses.

I am going to play a little game with my hundreds of cheering fans.

I will present some quotes which I feel characterize the Obama Presidency with great accuracy. I will even tell you the page numbers where they may be found. I will not tell you the name of the author or his book until tomorrow. Some of you may already know or be willing to guess who is being quoted. Feel free to express yourself here. Tomorrow on this same message I will divulge the author and the profound significance his comments have in this critical period in our nation’s history.

“Since then, however, I have realized that political freedom and democratic rules alone are not sufficient to govern humanity. Democratic procedures can be subverted and dishonest politicians are like sand in the gearbox, abundant everywhere, and destructive. What I see in America today is people painting their cabins while the ship goes down” page xvi

“They made the rules up as they went along and did whatever served them at the monent to achieve their strategic goals always articulating the necessary reasons. And whether those reasons were true or not was of no consequence.” page 44

“What they really meant therefore was the separation of God and society, or maybe, better put, God FROM society….Therefore the Christian religion and its moral absolutes had to be destroyed.” page 45. (FROM originally in italics).

“Truth must be the battle cry for the second American Revolution.”

Dr. Keyes,

You are a true patriot in the mold of Patrick Henry. A firebrand at heart, a magnificent orator, and a devout patriot. With your words, you have the ability to galvanize people to action.

I find it difficult to believe that we are finding ourselves in such dire straights. Yet, here we are in such an untenable position. Watching the flame of liberty, as we know it, get extinguished before our eyes.

With your leadership and the support of many Americans, we can push back this ignorant stumble towards socialism and, as Lincoln put it, “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom”.

That was… very powerful. Brought tears to my eyes, and I’m not even American. Along the lines of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”, I’ll say this: Empires never fall by keeping with the spirit of their formation, but from the sluggishness and decadence of those that think they know better. It’s not only Obama and the self professed ‘progressives’ who fall into the later camp, but ordinary people who are slipping more and more, seemingly inevitably, into this perverse state of mind.

Mr. Keyes, You may want to prepare those who hear such stirring speeches a bit more for the consequences of “standing alone”. Consequences such as: the need for constant, introspective questioning of one’s own motives in the face of blatant disapproval from all those around you; the need to be able to articulate your reasoning in writing or in speech so that you can re-visit that reasoning when the situation changes or when your resolve weakens; the need to build a sound foundation for your values so that you may defend them in the face of erudite and informed criticism; and finally the need to protect your family from the slings and arrows that will surely come your way as a result of your decision to enter the public life.

I am not by any means suggesting that such consequences should deter a person from taking such a stand, but they need to be prepared and ready for the slings and arrows that will come their way or they will fall into the same traps as did their predecessors.

“Throw them all out” is not a solution any more than vote a straight party ticket was a solution.(Although I do appreciate the sentiment.) It’s laziness. How about “do some research, find out how they voted and why and then determine who needs to go”? How about calling, writing or e-mailing your elected representatives to thank them every time they act with character to preserve our liberties so they know they are not the only ones who care about this or that issue? Strengthen the resolve of those who are standing up for American(and in my point of view Christian) principles and values now and replace those who do not with those who will.

I have to say this because my overwhelming suspiscion we are not the only ones who want a change in our legislature, state and federal, and we can be sure that the other side will have some lovely candidates hand picked to replace those who we so helpfully throw out with those who will do worse. It is not enough to replace them all, we must have a care who we replace and with whom.

I think you for your struggle to make America a better nation as well as your service to our country as an ambassador. It was a wonderful speech and I have posted it on my Facebook page to share with friends and family.

In contrast is Obama’s recent excursion into “demonstrating support from the troops”, in which exercise Obama casually transgressed the usual boundary that separates the America soldier from political considerations.

I have to correct Dr. Keyes on one point. He said of this, “The bombs and bullets of the enemy will not discriminate, as Obama’s minions reportedly did, between the personnel who voted for Obama and those who did not.”

Sadly, this is not the case. Uriah the Hittite was not the first soldier ordered to the wall as a way of avoiding potential embarrassment to his commander in chief. Nor was he the last. This is the real reason for the barriers which prohibit entanglement of politics and the military. The ridiculous notion that serving members of the military should not exercise political influence is the justification for treating military ballots with disdain. A belief in the right of military personnel to a secret ballot is the reason those votes are to be kept sacrosanct.

Will Obama really order soldiers into desperate situations, just because they didn’t vote for him? Consider the restrictions under which the Navy Seals operated in their rescue of Capt. Richard Phillips. Everyone seems to think that Obama was instrumental because he “authorized” the rescue. What they miss is that he insisted that any rescue take place only under conditions which placed Capt. Phillips’ life in imminent danger.

“The Defense Department twice asked Obama for permission to use military force to rescue Capt. Richard Phillips from a lifeboat off the Somali coast. Obama first gave permission around 8 p.m. Friday, and upgraded it at 9:20 a.m. Saturday. Officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations said the second order was to encompass more military personnel and equipment that arrived in the Indian Ocean to engage the pirates.”

This is supposed to be a sign of Obama’s involvement and commitment to the rescue…that the first authorization left so little leeway that a second authorization was needed to give the military permission to use military personnel and equipment that could have arrived for no other reason. What is left out of every story is that Obama’s “authorization” was actually a carefully worded denial.

No one can legally order a U.S. soldier not to act to save lives in imminent danger. “Authorizing” the Navy to carry out a rescue if the hostage is in imminent danger of being killed is basically denying them permission to carry out any operation that does not involve the maximum risk of failure. The resourceful Navy commanders decided to modify the situation and ask again.

They got the same answer, ‘you can try a rescue as long as Capt. Phillips actually has a weapon pointed at his head, so that even the slightest mishap will result in his death’.

And being military officers with Navy Seals at their command, they rose to the challenge unnecessarily imposed by the ‘authorization’ which denied them every recourse it is legal for a President to deny troops facing the enemy. They overcame that obstacle, and avoided commenting on the difference between the authorization they would have liked and the two they actually received.

It may be literally true that bombs and bullets will not discriminate, and probably is also true that the enemy won’t be picky about the politics of the American soldiers they kill. But does anyone honestly doubt that giving the Commander in Chief of the military permission to ask about the politics of soldiers introduces a very real possibility that missions involving a high risk of death or failure will be handed out to those not known to support the administration?

An unfair question, considering that it has already happened. With the life of a brave American on the line, Obama carefully tied the hands of those charged with the rescue. Would he have been so stingy with his authorization if those officers were known to be sympathetic to his administration? I doubt it.

I once served in America’s military, without consideration for the politics of the administration, because I wished to protect the nation. I may no longer entertain such youthful fancies, at some point I ceased even to feel them so keenly. I knew then that the president knew that most military personnel despised him, and he heartily reciprocated…but he didn’t go so far as to ask who voted for him out of those in an active conflict area.

Fortunately, this time nothing more was at stake than a photo op and free digital cameras. But those soldiers live their lives in the shadow of the wall, where they might be sent at any moment. By a man who feels no qualm about establishing which ones voted for him.

And yet, silence.

To All of America’s Free,

The video you see above is what True Leadership is about. I have to point this out to you because many of us have not seen it in awhile. In fact, many of you have not even seen it your lifetime. There is no podium, there are no words written, no cue cards, no teleprompter. These are words spoken from the heart. Words such as these are crystal clear like crisp refreshing water free flowing down a mountain stream after a winter thaw. Witness a man that is a leader of men. This is a simple powerful visual message that we all must now share. Tired of getting and sending meaningless silly emails? Here is the link to this blog site:

I beg of all of you to copy and paste this link above into an email. Tell everyone that there is a leader of Free Men in this world and that he needs to be seen and heard. Please forward this email to everyone that is on your mailing list. Although it may not seem so now, this is a video that is important to the survival of our life as we know it. It must be viewed and shared by everyone you can think of: your children, Parents, friends, neighbors, Aunts, Uncles, work associates, students, Grandparents, and all others: Christian and Non-Christian alike, within America’s borders and outside them. Let all see what a True Leader of men is. Let them all know his name. Let them all know he is one True American Patriot. Let his words of meaning be heard. We must do this right now. We need to use the power of this medium while we still have the Liberty to do so. It will only take a few moments of your time.

Your Brother in Freedom,

Enough of the accolades, we need someone like Keyes to step up to the plate to lead the party. We need someone: Keyes, Gingrich, Rove…a leader! Right now, with the liberals pushing through near-socialist programs, the Republican party should have no problem winning an election. Yet this is not the case, as has been evidenced in the recent NY election for the House of Representatives.

I keep track of all of this in my blog (it is a political commentary from a conservative viewpoint), and right now I can only hope that the Republican party gets back on track. Let’s face it, we can point out the faults of the liberal agenda being pushed through, but our party is currently a joke. Without a leader we have nothing.

@Derek P.
You are absolutely right when you say, “More emphasis needs to [be] placed in qualifying individuals rather than disqualifying them.” When “da bums,” BOTH Democrat and Republican, have succumbed to Liberal practices, how are we going to get back to supporting folks for office that represent America’s Founding Principles? America’s Independent Party (AIP) has been building the infrastructure to ensure just that. (btw, Alan Keyes was the Presidential nominee for AIP in 2008) America’s Independent Party is a CLOSED system. Members who have affiliated with the party will have the sole voice in deciding who the party nominates for each office – local, state and federal. When Conservatives are doing the vetting of individual prospects for office, instead of frivolously leaving that task to be decided in open primaries, Conservatives will have a choice on the ballot. Is it any wonder that all we get as nominees from both Dems and Republicans are Liberal candidates, when Liberals are permitted to infiltrate the nominating? Of course, if you want good self-government, it might mean putting in a little more citizen-statesman time than looking over a voter’s guide every four years.

What was Keyes doing during the 60s, when Paul was finding out about the Fed Reserve? Where was he in the 70s when Paul was warning us about it. Again, unbelievable! President Lincoln would have had a proud moment in Pittsburgh had he been among the crowd! Fire came alive in the hearts of the hard working people of the Burg thanks to Dr. Keyes!

Wow.

Fire in the heart. Light in the eye.

I wish I had a heart to feel, or eyes to see. Why did I forfeit them? I forget. The blood dripped out, and my eyes dimmed, and my heart stopped, and I went on without them. I left them behind and cannot now find what is lost.

I would to believe again. I would to love anew. America, if you’re really there, I pray that you show me the miracle which your forefathers brought forth through their devotion to liberty. Perhaps I will not regain my vision, my devotion might not be revived. But I will surely find peace, if the nation of my childhood allegiance can yet live.

Arise from the dust, and be free.

Great speech, Dr. Keyes! Loved the passion. It’s the exact kind of passion and righteous indignation that I hope to see Wednesday at the local Tax Day TEA party.

“Time to Throw Da Bums Out!”

Last November, Nevada threw a bum out of office. Jon Porter. (He voted in favor of the TARP bailout.) But that didn’t solve the problem. In fact, it made the problem worse. We voted the bum out, all the while giving no consideration to who was going to replace the bum. Yeah, we voted the bum out, but only to replace that bum with a person whose credentials were worse than the bum that we threw out! It didn’t matter then (beforehand), but it most definitely needs to matter now.

More emphasis needs to placed in qualifying individuals rather than disqualifying them. Nevada disqualified Jon Porter without giving any thought to qualifying his replacement beforehand. Now we have Dina Titus.
