Alan Keyes

For a long while I have been involved in government, politics and citizen activism. I am Christian, Catholic, Pro-life and pro-liberty.  I am sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States, and the republican form of government it establishes.  I uphold and seek to preserve the sovereignty of the American people, and to restore respect for the principles set forth in the American Declaration of Independence.  In light of those principles, I believe the top priority of our political life is to restore respect for the existence and authority of the Creator, God and to rebuild the moral conscience and character of the American people on the basis of that respect; For God, Liberty and the Constitution.

The content I share on Loyal To Liberty is offered in the hope that it will prove helpful to people trying to think through the challenges of faithful citizenship during this time of deep crisis for the republican form of government in the United States.

    I have a friend who spent many years working for Colin Powell. He is devastated by Powell’s turn coat behavior.

    I’ve always maintained that Powell was nothing but a good “yes” man which suited his career perfectly in the military.

    Mr. Keyes recent article on Boehner featured in Renew America was brilliant and hit a home run. Political parties no longer work for the people and have been hijacked by people hungry for power and money. Our Founding Fathers felt political parties were a threat to the rights and freedom of America and it looks like their thoughts have come to be true.

    I fear that it’s constitutional perfectionists who believe now is the time for secession from the Union. Sadly, that perfection will never come even should they succeed.

    Amid the calls for an impeachment that will never result in a conviction, secession, and even armed revolution, what I haven’t heard from is the Sovereign States calling for a Constitutional Convention and once again binding the Federal government with the chains of the Constitution as was meant by our Founders.

    We could institute Amendments such as the Write the Bills, Read the Bills, One Subject at a Time, Enumerated Powers, Balanced Budget and Term Limits Acts. We could stop the abuse of the Establishment, Necessary and Proper, Commerce, and Supremacy Clauses. We could prohibit any treaty from changing the Constitution. And we could define what the qualifications are for Natural Born Citizenship status, what it takes to prove eligibility for a particular office, and eliminate automatic citizenship for anchor babies.

    But will we want dramatic confrontation and bloodshed or will we use a tool the Founders gave us?

    Alan…..I have followed you since the 80′s and I know you are a God-fearing true American. The question is Who do God-fearing Americans vote for? It would be the end of America if Obama gets reelected. Do we again vote for the “lesser of two evils” and take our chances,vow to be more involved, since we are finally awake, and wait for 2016?

      For at least the past ten or fifteen years neither of the two major parties has represented the principled conservatives entrapped by the GOP’s false (and except for the Reagan years always questionable) conservative label. I think conservatives loyal to the nation’s organic law (especially the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution) have been awake and active since 2006. But even when the GOP) lost control of the U.S. House in that election, the GOP leadership refused their demand for political representation. For cynical electoral purposes they are right now encouraging the pretense that they agree with the Party’s grassroots that Obama is practically the devil incarnate. But after the 2010 election they consistently handed this “devil” more power and money, and consistently refused to do anything effective to thwart his unconstitutionally dictatorial abuses of executive power.

      This happened because the GOP wing of the elitist faction has controlled the Party since the end of the Reagan era. In the aftermath of Reagan’s tenure, they did what they had to to work with the fact that principled conservatives constitute the majority of the GOP’s voter base. But though they could never win election if such conservatives did not vote for them, the Bush/ Romney elitists have nothing but contempt for these “true believers”. It has been their consistent objective to escape the need to rely on their votes.

      There was a time during the Victorian era when the ascendant force in British politics has been described as combining “[personally] liberal men and Tory measures.” Since the Reagan era, the GOP wing of the elitist faction has consistently aimed to make the GOP a rhetorically “conservative” Party that consistently empowers left-leaning political leaders and public officials (conservative rhetoric used to elect leftists to power). In the strong afterglow of the Reagan era they did so more slyly. But in the after of 9/11 (which was largely the result of
      the strategic incompetence left-leaning, unprincipled “pragmatism” produces in national security affairs) this aim was more and more openly pursued, as Karl Rove orchestrated an effort to neutralize or purge the influence of principled conservatives in State GOP organizations throughout the country. In electoral terms this resulted in the election of people like Schwarzenegger in California. On the key issues of principle it led to the quiet promotion of the homosexual lobby’s influence on the GOP’s leaders and opinion makers and the substitution of specious “states rights” reasoning for arguments based on Declaration principle, as the basis for the Party’s opposition to Roe v. Wade (someone like Fred Thompson is a good example of this mutation.)

      This pattern has culminated in the Romney nomination. I predict that if elected Romney will move to establish a left/left coalition with the Democrats in Congress (the left leaning GOP wing of the elitist faction working with its Democrat counterpart.) This will produce a flurry of “bipartisan” legislation mainly consolidating and extending the socialist schemes Obama has muscled forward during his occupation of the White House. I also think the ominous money powers that acted in 2008 to sap America’s economic position will co-operate in efforts to belay the economic pressures somewhat. The result will be the appearance of an era of successful “bipartisan” governance that produces economic results that leave the American people a poorer, less proud people, pathetically grateful that their chains don’t lay quite as heavily upon them as they seem to at the moment.

      Meanwhile, by the way, the moral and cultural abandonment of the standard of God endowed right will be consolidated, with the mandatory acceptance of homosexuality (i.e., the ascendancy of the principle of government endowed right) leading the way. You suggest that some conservative resurgence is possible in 2016, but if I’m correct about the years ahead, Romney will be a shoo-in for the GOP nomination in 2016, with any resistance to him fiercely suppressed as practically treasonous. Yet the factual record will show an America where the whole doctrine of liberty articulated by the founders, and implemented in the U.S. Constitution has been discarded. The America Republic will be as dead as the Roman Republic was once Caesar Augustus consolidated his new imperial regime

      Some intellectual elements of the elitist faction have been looking forward to the empire phase of America’s existence for at least two decades. They believe the Republic has been long dead; kept around on life support only until the elitist Empire could be fully birthed. I have long believed that, if it turns our to be true, this transition is a tragedy for humankind, one that portends a nightmarish future for humanity as the 21st century matures.

      I see only one chance for liberty. Principled conservatives, still loyal to the Republic, have to reject the lies that will otherwise tempt them to invest conservative hope in Romney. Later, when his actions betray their hopes, they will later be unwilling to write them off . They can avoid this self-inflicted blindness by rejecting the idea that the 2012 Presidential race offers any alternative for liberty. They can prepare to fight off Romney’s likely betrayals by doing whatever they can with their vote to increase the power of real conservatives in the Congress, so that there will be no excuse for any Congressional failure to reject the surrenders to leftism that Romney will tout as “bipartisan” victories. The aim should be an election result that makes it impossible for an elitist faction tool like John Boehner to be re-elected as Speaker of the House, and that wins, or comes as close as possible to winning a putatively conservative GOP majority in the U.S. Senate.

      I know it’s hard for people to think ahead in this strategic way. The great advantage of the elitist faction throughout human history has been the greater capacity of the few for longer term thinking and action. I admire America’s founders because they lent their outstanding capacity for strategic political thought to the task of helping the many to match this elitist advantage, despite the natural discomfort many people feel with the kind of thinking involved. But the crisis of self-government in the United States has come to a head. If the people do not see through the elitist stratagem this election represents, I am pretty well convinced that it will mark the final passage of the American Republic. For a while we’ll continue to go through the motions, but rising generations, weakened by their unwitting surrender to moral and spiritual confusion (which the push to accept homosexuality epitomizes), will lack the will even to think about, much less implement, the discipline required to restore and sustain political freedom.

      Those of us who came along before miseducation deeply aggravated this moral and spiritual confusion have a duty to the self-evident truths America is founded upon, and an opportunity to perform that duty, if we care to. On November 6th, we can probably still count on that. We should not make the very questionable assumption that this will still be true after that, if we again fail the test of foresight in what we do right now.

    Okay man,  I’m young and probably pretty naive, but I’m thoroughly curious by some of the stuff I’ve heard you say.

    Now, I’m not going to express any of my own opinions, as I would infuriate you to no end. However, I would like to get your perspective on a few issues, mostly from sheer curiosity.
    Have you ever considered that faith is subjective? As we read from a Bible translated from so many languages with a large margin of error – as it is extremely difficult to translate from dead languages. The Bible is also an amalgamation of several people’s accounts, so is it not flawed in the sense that human subjectivity has altered it? The common argument against this point is that God would not allow intense dilution of His Word, but I’m curious where you stand.
    This is one you’ve probably gotten before and I just haven’t read about, but slavery is endorsed in the old testament (I don’t have a direct biblical quote, but this is what I’ve been taught. If I’m wrong please correct me). Now if this is so, I’m just curious where you stand.
    Another is that humans have progressed in social interaction over time – we now wear clothes woven of multiple fabrics, animals are no longer respected in the institution of killing for their meat that they once were, etc. I have no real question on this point, I’m just curious as to any comments you may have on such.
    In your recent speech at the Colorado Right To Life banquet you mentioned that we should endorse capital punishment, based on the fact that man is made in the image of God, and in killing man we act against God and should therefore be killed….so the man who killed was not formed in the image of God?
    In terms of gay marriage/rights – this is always a fun one – I’m just wondering where you stand on their treatment. Do you consider them ‘persons’, or are they walking, talking abominations that should be treated as such? I ask because I tend to frequent the loving and caring New Testament approach to my life as opposed to the fairly grim attitude of the Old Testament, and Jesus – as well as his apostles – emphasize the importance of respecting and loving your fellow man, regardless of who they are..
    Do you have any comment on the idea that Jesus came to rectify the mistakes written in, what would have at the time been ‘the scriptures’, as the human race required some rectification. Are we not to act as the physical manifestation of God did, and treat and love all people equally?
    A response would be much appreciated.

    OK, I am also FURIOUS about the Obama effort to force contraception and abortion on us. When are we going to advocate loudly PUBLIC EXCOMMUNICATION of Nancy Pelosi and Kathleen Sebelious and our VP Biden? Are we afraid to push for this? I am not afraid. I sent an email about this to the Catholic Bishops and I can tell I am being ignored. It is high time to LOUDLY DEMAND the PUBLIC EXCOMMUNICATION of these hypocrites and catholic traitors!!!!! When are you going to push for it too? I want us all DEMANDING THE PUBLIC EXCOMMUNICATION of Pelosi, Sebelious and Biden and any other phoney in-name-only “catholic” politicians, who are actually traitors. I also want the US Catholic Bishops PUBLICLY SUPPORTING THE VOTING OUT OF OBAMA NOW. It is exasperating to me that they have not done this as all this was predictable and preventable. You cannot be Catholic and liberal and pro-abortion nor vote for pro-abortion politicians. Therefore real Catholics must be CONSERVATIVE AND VOTE CONSERVATIVE WHICH means voting republican. How do we start a petition to the Bishops? How else do we contact the Bishops? The Bishops until now have not shown courage and boldness to do any of this. This must change now otherwise they will lose credability and offend Our Lord. They must defend our Church and PUBLICLY EXOMMUNICATE and humiliate these hypocrite phoney “catholic” traitors. We are justified to and need to practice moral civil disobedience. We must have the courage of our convictions and we must never cave when it comes to defending the Life and the Truth, no matter what comes our way. Please respond.

    Why have you accepted an invitation to speak on Oct 22 for Trunews and host Rick Wiles, and line yourself up with a con artist? The tent you are speaking in was supposed to be erected to be a church back in March, 2009, with services of repentance 7 nights a week, to feed the poor in the city of Port St. Lucie, Florida. If you go back to Rick’s 2009 March programs, you will hear him describing the tent event, and asking for people to donate $250K, gold, silver, precious gems, etc. Many people donated huge sums of money, only to find out Rick had no intention of putting up a church, but used it as a ‘false project’ with which to raise money. (His donations are hidden, and he refuses to show donors a breakdown of his yearly expenses). He was under fire by the donators, and those donators went online to expose Rick Wiles, when the tent/church project never happened. Rick threatened to sue the very donors who gave him money, instead of letting them see where their donations went for. It has been over 2 1/2 years, and the only reason Rick is putting up this 3 day ‘tent event’, with you as speaker, is to save face. He looked pretty bad for advertising a false tent/church to collect donations, and those exposing him hurt his ‘so called’ Christian radio show, so he is now justifying his actions by putting up this 3 day event–but this event has nothing to do with the project and promises he made to erect a tent church back in 2009 with the hundreds of thousands of dollars he took from his radio listeners. Mr. Wiles also has a history of collecting donations for projects that have never come to pass. Yes, he will ‘give’ for some charities, but this man has a history of scamming his listeners for money, and has a bad reputation for being truthful. I would reconsider lining myself up with a man who preaches truth, yet scams innocent people for money and treats his donors with contempt when they question him on why he does not use their donations correctly. If you go back and listen to his radio shows, you will easily hear a man who is double minded in all his ways. In fact, last year, he got on radio exclaiming that he would be leaving the US soon and going to a secret place for safety…and of course, asking for donations at the same time. it was another scam tactic…Rick never left the country, and still resides in Florida in his big house. He loves to play on people’s emotions and create ‘scare tactics’ in order to raise money. The man is a con artist, and a good one. I think accepting Wile’s invitation is not a wise decision.

    I would like for Mr. Keyes to begin to visit more African AMerican Catholic parishes nationwide.
    I am a member of the Ladies Council of St. Peter Claver and I think that someone as high profile as yourself would do wonders in encouraging awareness of the contributions, the history and culture that those of us with African orgins have made to the Church. Every February, we have a wonderful revival and every November our parish celebrates in music and fellowship the gifts that Africans bring to the faith that really seem to go unnoticed (how many times has someone asked me, “You’re black AND Catholic?).
    Please consider attending African American centric Catholic churches to encourage evangelization and parochial education. Also consider visiting Catholic Charities to encourage patronage and highlight the wonderful work that they do across the country and throughout the world.

    Since you are against the healthcare bill that the CBO says will be decrease the budget deficit in the long term, what alternative does my mom who is 62, has a pacemaker and currently is unable to get healthcare (due to lack of money)because she had to take family leave (ironically enough, she was a Senior Ombudsman whose position was cut by Gov. Schwarzenegger after she took unpaid leave) to care for her ailing father do for healthcare? My priest always asks us what would Jesus do? This is the reason why we are BIG supporters of Catholic Charities – Would Jesus allow my mom to ail without relief – condemned to suffer because she doesn’t have money? Does Jesus care more about money than people? Is it okay to put undue pressure on charities that is far beyond their abilities? Do we only care for each other when it’s easy, comfortable and conveinent? What is the right thing?

      1 Timothy 5 tells us to care for widows.

      It is not right for the government to steal from you, and from your neighbors to pay for health care.

      I know lots of health care workers that help low income families. THAT is what the Bible would have us do.

    I wish to congradulate you on your exceptional performance over the years. I have followed you since as far back as 1991. You have been a real inspiration to so many people. It is refreshing to hear a true conservative and libertarian speak on issues that are so timeless and filled with common truths and values. Not many people would go out on a limb to hold the values that you do. I want to thank you for staying the course when others would have failed. We need more men of conscience and faith in this world. Sadly there is less independant thinkers among us today. But you have inspired many to think for themselves. Even if only one person wakes up and it leads others to do the same you will have given the gift of enlightenment to one more soul.     I had the great pleasure of meeting you while you campaigned for President the first time. I voted for you both times. I am so outraged that your name is not on the forefront of the fight to vett obama. You laid your career and life on the line. As far as I am concerned you are the President. The others new or suspected and remained silent. No member of his cabinet is legal, no law signed by him is legal, no Justice he brought to the table is legal. This has become a conspiracy of treason.
    My daughter and I are dealing first hand with the insanity. Why are those in power not listening? Only something akin to Egypt will get us heard. It is sad that something like what happened in Arizona should happen here, but if no one listens, how long will it be before the “peasants revolt”? I salute you and your efforts. I so wish I could do more. I try to get word out to support the Parental Rights Amendment and to stop the UNROC treaty. But there are so many we do not see, like Codex Alimentireus and those meant to keep us from growing our own food, and so many more to strip us of our rights. God Bless you and I will vote for you again in the next election.

    I have been an avid follower of yours, since first hearing a mid-90’s broadcast of one of your speeches on Dr. James Dobson’s “Focus On The Family” program. I have supported every one of your presidential bids, as well. I want to be clear that my purpose in writing to you is to urge you to run for President in 2012, and to ask you to make yourself visible RIGHT NOW.

    I was listening to the argument you had with Sean Hannity, regarding the “stridency” that he believed hurts you. I have to ask you to consider what he is talking about, as I have noticed the same thing. I believe that you are able to cleanse your presence and messages of any excessive abrasiveness, without sacrificing ONE principle that every Bible-believing Christian holds dear.

I will do all I can, in the state of New Mexico, to set up support bases for you—and will continue that effort, should I be successful in my plan to move to another state, next year.
