I’m sure many visitors to Loyal to Liberty have noticed that for more than two weeks access to the site has been disrupted by problems connected with hacker attacks affecting servers at Network Solutions where this blog is hosted. Those of you who have continued to check on the site will also have noticed that for the past few days, access has returned to normal.
Unfortunately, such a prolonged disruption, which included a period when the site was blacklisted as a security hazard by the Google search engines, adversely affected traffic to the site. Ironically, this took place just as the new features made possible by the change to the WordPress platform began to produce a significant increase in visitors.
I began Loyal to Liberty in January 2009 with the deep conviction that the events which produced Obama’s 2008 election victory portended the beginning of the decisive assault on American liberty. That conviction proved true. Since then, Americans everywhere have been roused to join in the struggle to preserve the constitutional democratic republic.
Having spent so many years thinking about and engaging in that effort, I thought that my reflections might be of use to them.Though I had given innumerable speeches over the years addressing different aspects of the crisis, there was no written repository of material that might help people think through its implications. I intended the site to remedy that deficiency.
My first priority was to build an archive of material. Earlier this year the results seemed to me worthwhile enough to justify concentrating some effort on redesigning the site in ways that would allow and encourage more people to take advantage of what it offers. I still do. That’s why I refuse to be discouraged by the setbacks of the past few weeks, though they have taken a real toll. In light of that fact, I need to get the word out that the site is again fully alive, safe and well. If you think that it represents a worthwhile contribution to the fight for American liberty, would you make a special effort to share your views with your friends and contacts?
For obvious reasons, I have also added new security monitoring and response features to the site and continue to review further measures that might help to avoid or mitigate future disruptions. In addition to the man hours involved, this has inevitably involved added costs. Like lunch, the free exchange of ideas isn’t. If you are able to help in this regard, please use one of the donation buttons available throughout the site, or use the address provided under ‘Supporting Liberty’ in the right hand column.
I couldn’t have mounted this effort without the help a number of you have offered in the past 18 months or so. I have gratefully felt the touch of God’s Providence in your support. Without it, this site, like the liberty it serves, cannot survive. Please help if you are able.
