Every day efforts intensify to intimidate or discourage Americans who rightly insist that Barack Obama properly document his constitutional eligibility to hold the office of President of the United States. It has even spilled into the political arena. In Arizona John McCain apparently believes that the mad stream media’s scurrilous slanders against such constitutionalists have succeeded. His campaign is airing commercials identifying J. D. Hayworth as such a constitutionalist, as if that alone is sufficient to turn all right thinking Arizonans against him.
Actually McCain’s abuse of the issue ought to be enough to convince Arizonans still loyal to the U.S. Constitution to vote out of office a Senator who has forsworn his oath to support and defend it. Despite so many deceitful efforts to distract from the real issue involved, it remains quite simple- Is the Constitution of the United States the Supreme Law of the Land, or not? Can it be amended, in violation of its terms, by a simple majority vote or by the dereliction of public officials? Do its words still bind the officers and actions of all levels of government in the United States, or not?
In one of his literary works the 1st Earl of Beaconsfield famously wrote that “it is with words we govern men.” A superficial review of human experience seems to put the lie to this observation. Fear seems more often to have been the basis for human governments, roused and sustained by examples involving the successful application of brute force and violence. More often than by words, people have been cowed into submission by striking images, etched in memory with the sharp edge of the sword or the axe, the gallows or the guillotine. Yet because collective memory cannot be sustained without communication, even government achieved through fear relies in the end on the power of words.
What is true in general is more obviously and decisively true of the government of the United States. It was from the beginning intended “to decide the important question, whether societies of men are really capable or not of establishing good government from reflection and choice, or whether they are forever destined to depend for their political constitutions on accident and force.” (Federalist, No. 1) With its words, the U.S. Constitution conveys the results of such reflection and choice. It has authority as law, however, only insofar as respect for those words obliges people to conform their actions to the terms and requirements they set forth. Once the words are no longer upheld by that sense of obligation, they no longer govern. Once they no longer govern, the Constitution will have been overthrown. Just as the commitment to be bound by words can establish a form of government, so the destruction of that commitment can and will bring it down. It dies first in the will not in the streets.
This is certainly the reason the Constitution requires all government officials at both the State and national level to swear an oath that obliges them to uphold the Constitution. Should all or most of those officials neglect to fulfill this obligation, by that fact alone the Constitution’s authority is undone. Only one issue in our political life today confronts us with the spectacle of such wholesale dereliction of duty- failure to substantiate that Barack Obama satisfies the Constitution’s plainly stated eligibility requirements for the Office of President of the United States. Can there be an issue more vital to the people of the United States than the overthrow of the Constitution that embodies their authority to govern themselves? It may be that the eligibility involves nothing more than respect for a few words in the Constitution. But as we Americans have special reason to remember, “with words we govern men.”

“We the people” do hereby ordain this Constitution (for a number of listed reasons) for the United States of America. The Constitution is OUR LAW for THEM, our elected representatives and other state employees. But that fact is not generally taught in schools any more, especially not the state schools. (They are not “public schools” as opposed to “private”, rather there are public schools financed with tax dollars, public schools financed by free market dollars, and restricted schools that might be considered “private” but still open to the members of the “public” who meet certain qualifications for admission.)
The reason we are losing our Constitution is fairly simple:
As a people, we no longer believe in a written document to govern our own lives. In other words, we are no longer struggling with the meanings of the words in the Bible and applying them to our own daily lives. Therefore, we have become INCOMPETENT to ENFORCE a written document on our public servants. And, when we do not enforce the Constitution on them, do they act like servants or like rulers? The daily news shows they no longer consider the Constitution any kind of restraint on their actions, so they act like rulers. No one is asking, What is the Constitutional authority for this piece of legislation or this action by the executive branch or this ruling by the judiciary?
In other words, even if we wanted to enforce the Constitution on our public servants, we have become INCOMPETENT to do so. We do not understand the meaning of the interstate commerce clause, to make them obey it and quit expanding it beyond its original intent. We certainly do not know the difference between “COIN” money and “PRINT” money in the clause that grants that power to Congress. And, if we cannot enforce the simple eligibility requirements for the office of President, how can we enforce more complex issues like those two I just mentioned? How hard is it to understand you have to be a NATURAL BORN citizen, live in USA at least 14 years, and be at least 35 years of age?
The problem is WE THE PEOPLE. Worse yet, it is the Christians who are more responsible than the unbelievers, because 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, If MY PEOPLE who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS, THEN will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and HEAL THEIR LAND.
So, if America is not healed, whose fault is it, according to 2 Chronicles 7:14?
We need a worldview that is broader than just personal, family, church, and funeral parlor. We need a biblical and Christian worldview that embraces every area of life and thought, not being spoiled by worldly ideas and false philosophies, taking captive EVERY THOUGHT to the OBEDIENCE OF CHRIST, (Colossians 2:8-9; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5).

I feel your pain, brother. And your frustration. One thing that keeps me going down this political road is the desolation and carnage that is on it’s way if this process fails. I don’t fear for myself but for the innocent and ignorant. The guilty will get theirs, God will see to that. The guilty will be judged, the righteous will be triumphant regardless of what happens, and the lukewarm? Jesus tells us in scripture what He thinks of them.

Dr. Keyes’ words apparently had the same inspirational effect on you as it had on me. My take is this: for far too long congess has been passing laws whereby they exempt themselves. Whether it is a large matter or not, health care coverage or hiring practices, this has given them a scense of elitism that lays the groundwork for this present constitutional crisis. They give anti-trust exemptions for their donors then bail them out or pass restrictive laws to address the problems they caused in the first place.
You are absolutely correct in stating this didn’t happen overnight. If we don’t get extremely picky over every piece of legislation, this degradation will continue. And unless we become spiritually sensitized to these nuances, they will continue. Again, you are correct. The place to start is the pulpit. (Or perhaps from a church member with the appropriate amount of righteous indignation who can light a fire under his/her preacher.)
Indeed, eligibility is the “rhinoceros in the room” that NONE of the so-called “mainstream media” are willing to discuss … and they are ALL staying at least 27 feet (so as not to touch it with a 10-foot pole) away from the Kerchner et al v. Obama et al case now in Federal Appeals Court.

That’s doubly ironic since these attorneys – and their bosses – took an oath to defend the Constitution from enemies foreign AND domestic but they are now in the position of actually attacking that very document rather than defending it and are trying to get an obviously ineligible man to remain in an office he has never shown himself to be eligible to hold.
The wonderful Apuzzo Brief is a primer on both Constitutional law, the meaning of it, the Founders’ intent vis-a-vis Article II of the
Constitution and a forceful put-down of the lies and misinformation put forth by the Obama Flying Monkeys such as “smrstrauss” and others.
I’d urge everyone to read the Initial Appeals Brief from Attorney Apuzzo’s website along with the many essays by both Mario Apuzzo AND his Lead Plaintiff, Charles F. Kerchner. While there, it would really help to donate even a small amount to the publicity/education fund presently used only for full-page newspaper ads in the Washington Times National Weekly Edition.
The Brief gives a very good overview of the original action AND it puts the lie to the many false arguments by the Obot Flying Monkeys about why BHO is either (their words) eligible to hold the office he now occupies OR that it (their words) doesn’t matter that he is not eligible.

I agree very much with the previous posts. I have been thinking about the differences between George Washington and the current usurper and the differences between the drafters of our Constitution and the narcissistic hoodlums in Congress today. Where is the Christian statesman? Where is the man of virtue, integrity and principle?
While I think America is starting to wake up to the fact that we have criminals representing us in Washington and that they all should be tried for treason for not speaking out against the usurper, I am still concerned that our arousal from slumber will be too late.
I am saddened and angered by the malicious attacks upon those like yourself and Dr. Taitz who are demanding the truth on the eligibility issue and standing against the genocide that is being winked at by most of America. We have corrupt political leaders and corrupt judges and from my understanding of the Holy Scriptures and Biblical history, America is due for revival or judgment – I pray for the former but expect the latter.
To all those who refuse to accept your President as a fraud and one without an American Birth Certificate it is you who are fostering the destruction of America. Many of us are sworn to fight to defend our Constitution and protect it from evil people like Obama. How do we do that? Our forefathers wanted us to defend their actions. But here we sit….watching this mad man bring on our death and destruction. Why? God, please help me do something to save our great country.
My understanding of the Constitution says 35, natural born citizen and lived in the US for the last 10 years. His mom was an American Citizen so therefore Obama is too. Trust me when I say he is the worst President the US has ever had but I can’t see where we have any basis to say he is not a natural born citizen of the US.
Dear Fred: Your definition from the Constitution is correct. There are several issues: (1) was he born in Hawaii?; (2) was he born in Kenya?; (3) did he receive federal aid for foreign students while at Occidental College (thereby nullifying his US citizenship)?; (4) what passport was used for his international travel in the early 1980’s (yet another chance to nullify or renounce his US citizenship); (5) many legal scholars argue that the definition of “natural born citizen” is one who is born to citizen parentS (plural). If this is the correct legal definition for “natural born citizen” then no matter where the man was born, he will never be qualified to be U.S. President.
Believe it or not, this situation has been encountered one other time in history with G. K. Chesterson. Chesterson cleverly burned all of his birth documents, but forgot to wipe out his parents naturalization records. They were not naturalized citizens when Chesterson was born, thus making him ineligible for President. Sadly, that information did not come to light until well after his term ended.
There are many valid eligibility questions, and not just because we don’t like the direction he is taking our country. It isn’t a case of “sour grapes,” but a case of holding the highest office in the land accountable to the U.S. Constitution that the President swears to uphold and defend.
Sister Mary Ann, I was going to a Bible study where the leaders said hell was translated (the hell JESUS spoke of often) as the burning trash pit outside the walls of Jerusalem. I was so disgusted, I stopped going – plus at the time I was working nights. I wonder how many Christians believe in hell at all. Like they said, why would a loving god who forgives send someone to hell for millions of years because they did not ask for forgiveness for maybe, say, raping someone one time. I do not agree. Either way, I am not interested in going to hell or trying GOD to see what mood HE may be in when we meet face to face. Of course, most Americans have made unto themselves a graven image in their pitifully depraved AND UNEDUCATED minds. And still have the nerve to go to church, playing dress up and making sure they are out by 12PM so as not to be late to the steak house or miss the game. Have ‘we the people’ forgot?
I have come to the realization that the U.S. government has been overthrown, not by a violent coup, but by an insidious coup of thousands of acts of ignorance or expediency.
Each judicial decision that was justified by expediency rather than by the words of the Constitution, each Congressman who proposed a law not authorized by the Constitution, and each voter who, because of indifference or ignorance of the Constitution, voted his heart rather than his mind, have all aided and abetted the overthrow of our government.
Mr. Obama appeqars a Muslim Manchurian packaged in an Islamic Trojan Horse. As such the matter of his birthplace and allegiance is significant. For example, given that Mr. Obama is a Muslim of Islamic faith, which he vaguely and obtusely admits, he is then subject to Sharia Law. Sharia Law recognizes no other law. This means that in taking his oath of office he violated that very oath simply by taking it.
No person including Mr. Obama can take an oath to “protect and defend” the Constitution of the United States; that is, the basis of our Judeo-Christian Rule of Law while being subject to Sharia Law, which recognizes no other law.
Either Mr. Obama is lying about being of the Islamic faith; or he is lying about protecting and defending the Constitution of the United States. He cannot have it both ways and in either case he is not fit as a liar to be President of the United States. This lie is of such egregious proportion that the matter of his birthplace and ethical allegiance must be considered simply as a practical matter to rational people; let alone withstanding Constitutional requirements for such office.
Many, if not all the policies Mr. Obama supports are uniformly in direct contradiction to the Rule of Law under our Constitutional Republic. The matter of whether or not Mr. Obama’s policies are good or bad for the American people may be a subject for discussion and debate, but our Rule of Law is not.
A man such as Mr. Obama who consistently opposes the Rule of Law he has sworn to uphold must be questioned, not to the same degree as any other political leader, but clearly more so. To fail in this oversight will be to our peril as free citizens as this man’s Administration is trampling rough shod over our legal liberties.

If a given office had ten requirements for office and the candidate meets eight of them, some might say that he is 80% eligible, but he is not. He is 100% ineligible.
I am struck by the question of why the Constitution should have the imprimatur of law. It is not because a select assembly of slave-owners drafted it, nor because the majority of a now dead generation of ex-European men subscribed to it through ratification, nor even because many tens of thousands have laid their mortal lives down in the defense of it.
It is, perhaps closing in on the matter to identify the principles of self-government around which the Constitution is framed as inspired by an understanding of men, “created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” Or to read the words of the Founding fathers as they expressed their dependence on Providence in securing the ability to establish Constitutional government in America. They understood that the Constitution was not merely the result of their own thought and reflection, as they justly lamented the imperfections and weaknesses of themselves and their age.
But to say that the Constitution was inspired by God’s design for man, however true the statement, does not answer the question of what allegiance men ought to owe to God, less to any government derived from His will. In the beginning, God left Man free to choose obedience or transgression of His commandments. Man chose transgression, and has not had power since to un-make that fatal choice.
And yet, the essential nature of that freedom that God granted to man requires three elements. First, the power to choose between distinct alternatives. Second, significantly different consequences to each alternative choice. Third, knowledge of which choice will lead to which consequence. The first and second are implicitly provided in man and his environment respectively, as long as both remain sufficiently un-degraded. But the third remains uncertain. There is no reason or instinct in man which can supply truth about the future consequences of his actions, save it be accepted from God, in whom all truth resides.
This, then, is my answer. I accept the Constitution because it is truth. Implicit in that truth is its origin from inspiration, proceeding from that truth is its production of freedom. For those who love freedom, there can be no issue more vital than adherence to the Constitution.
But how many really want to be free?

We didn’t elect a [supposed] president like Barack Hussein Obama over just one election cycle, nor was it in response to what George Bush did or did not do. Without morality, I submit that we lack the capability to govern ourselves.
The downfall of morality in the United States has been happening for more than 100 years, each generation falling a little further than the previous one. The sad fact is that most Christians do not know what moral decency is any more. Off-color jokes, sensuality in music, sensuality in skits and plays. I note with interest that the BTK serial killer and Dr. George Tiller were both church-going citizens who were trusted members of the church laity. What’s even worse is that the church-going public doesn’t hear the same “hell, fire and brimstone” sermons of past generations. Hell is an uncomfortable subject, and many times glossed over so as not to offend.
Our nation, our states, our counties and our precincts are in the same shape that our church is in. In order to change our nation, we must change the morality of it’s churches which will in turn change the morality of the nation’s citizens. In order to change morality, the churches need a “come to Jesus meeting”–and the sooner the better.
I should be in bed, but I had to see if there was a new post. I am glad you have touched on this subject again, Dr. Keyes.
Judging by the comments I have seen on this site, and the amount of people that have been counted thus far as visiting, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. I always thought of myself as an optimist/realist. Maybe I am a pessimist.
To me, it seems as if only a few thousand people in this country really care about what is going on. If that is not the case, then why do people have to wait for marching orders from a Glenn Beck or other entertainer? Why do you, Dr. Taitz and Rev. Manning seem to get so little support? Why do the dummies (YES, I SAID IT! – DUMMIES!) in this country continue to throw money into Wal-Mart, Comcast and Burger King, yet when it comes to throwing their money into something that is actually going to turn the future around for the NEXT generation, they are TOO DERN STINGY! AND SELFISH!
No one wants to risk living uncomfortably for even 5-10 years to ensure that their children might actually have a house to live in rather than a hut or a tent. Or (joy, joy), government housing…
The idiots in Gloucester, VA have actually asked that their taxes be RAISED to ensure that funding is not cut to the schools. THE CHILDREN ARE STILL GONNA BE STUPID!!!!!!!!! There ain’t a tax dollar out there that is going to make parents be parents (like mine were!) or encourage children to learn. IT IS NOT GONNA HAPPEN.
I am so SICK of the average person I have conversations with about politics/government, my hand twitches with an anxiousness to slap them in the back of their head to wake them up. I, FOR ONE, am tired of WE THE PEOPLE acting as if we have to wait for THEY THE REPRESENTATIVES to do their job, or worse, wait until election time to make them DO their job with a simple minded threat of not re-electing them. By then, it is too late as the damage has been done.
Letter writing, faxes and emails ARE OLD. No one who has any authority reads them. No one in government does their job. The feds are too busy traveling the world and putting on makeup to be on TV. If you get a letter from a government rep., it is from a SECRETARY! NO ONE IS LISTENING!
GOD permit there to be enough people left in this country that have a spine. AT LEAST, if we are put COMPLETELY under Obama’s reign, there will be a few of us who are not jellyfish and hide under our beds. I would rather go to meet JESUS knowing I lived BOLDLY, rather than sitting at home hoping that someone might vote correctly or that everything would just work itself out. I think there is just way too much TALK going on.
Why can’t Aunt Mary from Wyoming, or Uncle Ted from Illinois start a REAL march on Washington DC and we just get 2/3 million of us UNEMPLOYED FOLK, and walk right on UP IN OUR White House and get to the bottom of this. We are gonna wait for the next election???? Are you kidding me, right? So that means (I have said it before) we will have some OTHER illegal alien as our next president?
Oh my goodness, why do I get so worked up? Does ANYONE even honestly care anymore… GOD have mercy on this people…
Gilberta Brett, I care. We’re on exactly the same page. I was very amused with the comment about “we the people” waiting for “they the representatives” to fix the problem. I hope you don’t mind if I plagiarize those words, for they describe the problem in a nut shell. Yes we have bad representatives…but it is WE THE PEOPLE who put them there. Time to start accepting responsibility and time to start putting the nation in order, and let’s not wait until 2012 to work on Zero’s credentials. However, I believe the first focus of business should be the 2010 general elections–or rather the primaries leading up to those elections. This is the first opportunity to vote out the idiots and replace them with true conservatives, no matter what party they come from (although I must admit I don’t know any democratic conservatives, lol).
