Should I be silent about Romney’s true record?

by Alan Keyes on August 28, 2012

StumbleUponLinkedInFacebookDeliciousRedditDiggEvernoteTwitterTumblrShare

Just moments ago I read the following email from someone reacting to the article I posted earlier today:

Dr. Keyes,

I admire and promote you.   These messages at this time are not prudent. Although I agree with your thoughts, I fear another non-vote (by ten million Republicans) for the Republican nominee as the very same as when RINO John McCain ran.   This is one of the factors that left us with Mr. Obama.   Please consider this and stifle your admirable passion until AFTER the election, unless your very intent is to do Romney in.

Here is my reply, which I thought might be of interest to my readers:

Thank you for your words and counsel.  I disagree on only one point.  The issue is not what gave us Obama, but what gave us the choice between Obama and people like McCain and Romney, who are like him in all too many ways.
Nothing done in the voting booth in 2008 “left us with Mr. Obama.”  Obama’s election was assured when John McCain sided with those who crossed the Rubicon to socialism by adopting the TARP bank bailout plan.  The overwhelming majority of Americans thought it a bad idea to pawn the good faith and credit of the American people in order to assure the profits of those who brought on the financial disaster in the first place. Had McCain taken their side he would have beaten Obama in spite of himself.  That was not the plan.  The plan was exactly what happened- McCain took a dive in order to let Obama take the White House.
The same forces that put Obama in place have now engineered a choice in the 2012 election intended to force voters to side either with a socialist Democrat who wants to impose socialism on the nation or a socialist Republican who has already imposed socialism on his home state of Massachusetts.  To say that voters who refuse to support either are somehow responsible for electing one or the other is like saying that people who refuse to submit to the demands of terrorists are somehow responsible for killing the people the terrorists subsequently murder.  The guarantee of successful terrorism that results from that perverse logic places everyone’s life in greater danger.
I am responsible to God first and above all.  If I stand silent now, I let the torrent of lies being used to promote Romney as some kind of “conservative” stand. He will receive support from well intentioned people gulled by those lies.  The credibility he gains from their support will give him the power to reshape the meaning of “conservative” in ways that betray their good intentions.  Because of my silence, that result will be, in part, my doing.  When he uses that credibility to promote the murder of innocent children conceived during forcible rape, their murders will be, in part, my doing.  When he forces Catholic and other religious hospitals to provide abortifacient drugs or close their doors (as he did in Massachusetts) their sacrifice of conscience or good works will be, in part, my doing.  When he uses the White House as a bully pulpit to pressure the Boy Scouts into accepting openly homosexual scouts and leaders, the abuses that are likely to result will be, in part, my doing.  It may be prudent, in every worldly sense, for me to keep silent.  But when I stand before almighty God to answer for my share of responsibility for the (supposedly lesser) moral evils attributable to Romney’s successful bid for power, how prudent will it seem that I avoided the world’s scorn by deserving the condemnation of God, who made and governs the universe this world is part of?
The responsibility for Obama’s victory or loss burdens the people who support him.  The responsibility for Romney’s victory or loss burdens the people who support him. Forces larger than both of us have engineered the situation in which those who oppose Obama supposedly “have no choice” but to support his all too similar opponent.  But where there is no choice, there is no election, only a powerful fabrication intended to force good people to betray all that they profess to believe.  I guess I would fall prey to those larger forces, and their powerful fabrication, if I did not believe that the greatest force of all is the self-evident truth of God’s superintending power.  “Quid est veritas” (What is truth?) Pilate asked, before the election Jesus lost.  “I am the way, and the truth and the life” was Jesus answer, to the disciple who questioned His way.  Judged by the world’s prudence, Jesus was lacking, for he was crucified.  Judge by God’s wisdom, Jesus was prudent, for his way is the way of the elect in the only election that matters.
I think this was the faith of many of the founders of this country, who imprudently pledged their lives, and fortunes in order to establish the God acknowledging republic we are in process of destroying.  Could it be that we are doing so precisely because of the excessive prudence that stands silent while evil triumphs, more or less?  Could it be that the way to end that process of destruction is to elect, here and now to act for the right as God gives us to see the right, not wait until AFTER an election that has already gone the wrong way (else there would be a choice for good)?
“There is a way which seems right to man, but it is ultimately the way of death.” (Proverbs 14:12)  When faced with a crossroads of evil, human judgment makes out only one way or the other.  But by the grace of God, we may choose the way of the Cross, which stands above either.  Therein lies the imprudent, certain, only way to truth and life and victory.

Godspeed,
Alan Keyes

Dr. Keyes, I am so disappointed in you. You are encouraging people to waste their vote. And taking the Bible out of context for your own agenda. “Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from a religious conviction.”-Blaise Pascal, French scientist. You, sir, are doing our country an extreme evil by encouraging the re-election of Barack Obama. I really thought better of you than this. You had your chance to support another candidate…now, it’s too late. It’s time to put our support behind someone who has a chance of defeating Barack Obama, a truly evil individual who means to do our country harm. You need to see the “2016: Obama’s America” movie if you don’t believe me.

Oh Mr. Keyes. I have such respect for you. In this matter however you are wrong. Nobody is perfect but right now the choice is between someone who is out to destroy the idea of America and somebody who loves America is being guided and enlightened continually by the ideals of the tea party. Please, I beg you to change your mind and encourage people to move away from what is assuredly destruction and what will at least be a more civil discussion on the proper role of government. And think of the millions of unborn who would have no chance at all during a second Obama term. I am praying for you Mr. Keyes.
    Sincerely,
    Mary Wert

What you say of Romney simply has no evidence to back it up. Re life he pays lip service, and then says that the issue has been settle by the U.S. Supreme court, thus accepting the abortion regime we have. Tragically, you yourself exemplify the real difference in this respect between the danger Obama poses and the danger Romney represents. As Obama does wrong, you speak adamantly against him, So do many others, not only with words but in actions, such as the rallies for conscience that have taken place around the country. Romney says he will continue the same evil, but in exchange for some empty lip-service, people give him their vote, and pray for folks like me to shut up about his real position, and attend rallies to applaud sing his praises. What hope is there is this for the millions of unborn. In this respect, Romney’s tenure will be Obama’s second term.
“I will protect the sanctity of life,” he says. He’s so anxious to avoid saying anything that actually involves a commitment to end abortion that when he pretends to do so he gets it wrong. Sanctity is from God, and has no need of protection from us. We are called upon to respect what God ordains, not protect it. We are called to protect the lives of nascent children that are sanctified by God’s will as He calls them into existence. We are called upon to protect the integrity of the nation’s respect for the principle of God-endowed unalienable rights our Founders recognized as the God-acknowledging basis for liberty. Romney pretends he will do what only God can do. Then he says that he will not do what is sworn oath as President requires. Instead he will leave abortion where the U.S. Supreme Courts has place it. How do you infer from this that “the millions of unborn” will have any better chance under Romney than they have from Obama? Romney says the issue is settled. He never says that he intends in any way to unsettle it.
If we want to defend innocent life, as God endowed right requires, we must speak out against the violation of the unalienable right to life no matter who perpetrates or accepts it. That is what I am doing and what I propose to do, so long, as by God’s grace, I have the wherewithal. Is it not better to pray for that grace, than to pray that others should give in to fear and loathing in a way that thwarts their witness to God’s truth?

Thank you Mr. Keyes for being brave enough to speak the truth!

I would rather stand on the truth in prison than sell out to the lie. People think as long as I have my bank account, cars, home, job,tv and all the other material things, that will rot and decay, they can skirt by with supporting the lie. When Obama and/or Romney take it away what will you think then? Will you have wished you had done more homework? Will you wish you had supported truth seeker years ago and helped them get to a federal position? Will you with you had run for the school board? Do you think $16 Trillion is a joke? Do you think Romney really has a plan that will save your children or grandchildren from havinjg to pay this back on their backs? You put them in this position and they are going to think the “death panels” are a good thing.

The power is the people.(yes, it still is) Vote for the lessser of two evils is still evil. Send the message…We the people will not take the bone you threw at us. we will do our own hunting, thank you.

You will then be placing a vote for the ; ” Communist ” ; are you just plain dumb ?

      • RonPaulita

Are you just plain dumb? Or just ignorant? The grassroots (Ron Paul Republicans/Tea Partiers) have been ostracized by the GOP! Thats atleast 10% of the conservative primary vote! Why would we unify behind the Grassroots Ostracizing Party (GOP)? We are being ostracized for standing up for conservative principles! And voting values is another way to do that! Our vote may not count in the GOP, but it WILL COUNT on the ballot! My family (lifelong Republicans that raised me “right”) are disgusted w/ what’s happening & are considering voting values (3rd Party) as well. So that 10% could grow up to 20%. The GOP can only blame themselves if they lose.

    • tammyhill

Catholic Notions, I know this is a year later, but I wanted to reply to your comment. First, don;t give a thought to “nancy” as they know not what they say. Second, Ron Paul is an amazing Christian. He is our ONLY hope for a human in Our White House. I say “human” because Almighty God is our strong hold. One only has to look at Ron Paul to know he loves God and chooses to obey him. He is a seasoned Christian, humble and caring, steady and consistent. I hope you did vote for him. I wrote in Ron Paul for President and Judge Napolitano for VP.

I will work hard to get the word out about Mitt and Ann Romney’s deceptions and Paul Ryan selling out his Roman Catholic Faith for a few moments in the spot light. Mitt rejects his own Republican Party’s new Pro-Life Platform. It he does not obey the laws of the RNC what makes the American People think he will heed any other law. He’s lawless. Once you committ a Mortal Sin against 1 of God’s Commandments the infraction of the rest of the 9 Commandments comes easier. SHAME on Pig Headed Catholics who buy the Lies and Liars as God Himself. It is so very evil.

I am with you! Great response! One thing is for certain…I will NOT vote the “lesser of 2 evils”…that will only result in evil. I will do the right thing. I will vote 3rd party, and leave the results to God. Blessings!

Bless you Alan Keyes! Bless you for answering that email and sharing your answer with those of us who feel the same way. I am not a believer, but I do believe in our nation to be able to right the wrong of Obama without having to “sell our souls” to Romney. Maybe we’ll get four more years of Obama and that will be a horrible thing, but if we don’t call out the Obama ideology and make it expose itself full force, we will only be right back here again in so many short years. We must stamp out liberalism/socialism/communism permanently, and if doing that means we’ll have to face the worst head on…then it’s what we must do. We must stop being fearful cowards and and just get it done.

Absolutely do not be silent. (Psalm 39:2) Those who remained silent in the rise of Nazi Socialism knew they were wrong but it was too late. Hmmm looking quite familiar here. Do not let history repeat itself. (Ecclessiastes 3:7) If one knows history and knows the word of GOD, they CANNOT stay silent. I have tried to tell people this was coming way back in the 70′s. My name is not Jeremiah but I was young and no one would listen. (Jeremiah 4:19) Now those very people are running around crying “what shall WE do, what shall WE do?” WE? My answer is “what will you do?” There is no we until there is an I. Everyone who follows the Truth will find themselves in a majority but each one must not turn to the left or the right.(Joshua 1:7) If everyone who now sees the truth will act on and with the Truth, even though the enemy will get what they wanted (they will anyway at this point), they will know there is a fight, and a line will be drawn. Others, will who are not wise enough to even look, will see God still reins. 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 “If I ever shut off the supply of rain from the skies or order the locusts to eat the crops or send a plague on my people, and my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health. From now on I’m alert day and night to the prayers offered at this place.”
“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. ” Daniel 9:17-19

Finally, someone that sees things taking place are exactly as I see them. I am so sad. My journey of waking up started when you spoke at our second tea party event in SC. I listened closely to what you spoke, and I listened even closer to those that sat at my table, conversing with you. I realized those professors, were just die hard Republicans, and nothing more. Much more educated than me. However, in my simple knowledge of truth, I heard you. I now realize that God blessed me with good old common sense, and I will take that any day over the educated idiots that I was surrounded by. You sent me on a journey of researching and gaining knowledge of our true history in this country, and even to the beginning of time. I thank you Dr. Keyes, for speaking the truth. We are often crucified when we speak the truth. I appreciate you more than you could ever know.
