Insane? Guess I’m not the Only One

In a generally unheralded speech about the so-called “stimulus” package, dated February 10, 2009, Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) said:

Let me conclude by saying we are at a seminal moment in our country. We will either start living within the confines of realism and responsibility or we will blow it and we will create the downfall of the greatest nation that ever lived.

This bill is the start of that downfall. To abandon a market-oriented society and transfer it to a Soviet-style, government-centered, bureaucratic-run and mandated program, that is the thing that will put the stake in the heart of freedom in this country.

Coburn says that the policies being pursued by Obama will lead to a “Soviet-Style, government centered, bureaucratic-run and mandated” result. As I recall, the Soviet-style of government was a communist state.

Coburn concludes that the continuation of such Soviet-style policies will “create the downfall of the greatest nation that ever lived.”

Until a friend sent me an email about it on Friday, I hadn’t read Senator Coburn’s speech. But on Thursday evening in Hastings, Nebraska, when asked about Obama’s policies, I said that he is a radical communist, and that if Americans who care about liberty (i.e., who don’t want to put a stake in its heart?) do nothing to stop him he’ll bring about the destruction of the United States.

Though I never watch Keith Olbermann’s drivel or anything else on MSNBC (and advise others to practice the same abstinence) I read that in response to my comments he questioned my sanity.

If I’m out of my mind, I guess I’m not the only one.

I also read that Olbermann tried to make something sinister out of my saying that unless Obama is stopped (in his efforts to establish a communist state) the U.S. will be destroyed. Compared to the sort of language used against say, Ronald Reagan and G.W. Bush by Democrat and left wing-critics, this is a polite and reasonable exhortation to political action. However the effort to construe it as something else smacks of the tactics employed at the famous show-trials of Stalin’s era, even as Olbermann’s suggestion of insanity brings to mind the communist practice of committing dissidents to psychiatric hospitals. Could their use of such tactics be the reason Olbermann and his “We’re all socialists now” Newsweek buddies (like his guest for the segment, Jonathan Alter) don’t want us using the “C” word? We might remember the tactics of communist repression, and notice some similarities.

Worth considering? Then don’t forget to DIGG IT!!!!

Dr. Keyes…Thank you for your courageous stand for freedom and liberty and the life of the unborn…I am an SBC Pastor and say without being ashamed that the answer to our problems is Jesus Christ and a right relationship with God through Him…However, what we are seeing in our country is the staging for the ultimate dictator to come onto the scene who is of course, the anti-Christ…this country will continue to go down-hill, lose its ability to influence for good and retreat within her borders, turn her back on Israel and in general, make life miserable for anuone who believes in the Judeo-Christian ethic…but we must boldly continue the fight to preserve what god started here when Christopher Columbus first made land-fall and the discovery of the new world was made…god has mightily used this nation to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world, but that time is drawing to a close…Keep up the good-fight! I stand with you, inspite of our collective insanity!

Very nice post, Mr. Keyes. I guess I’m insane too as I find myself in complete agreement with Sen. Coburns’ statement.

One of the big concerns for our first president Mr. Washington was, as he put it, seeing our young people traveling to foreign countries in order to acquire a knowledge of the higher branches of erudition. He thought this was dangerous because, not having well learned to appreciate their own, they were, in the issue, given to internalizing undue biases in favor of foreign systems of government, tendencies that once adopted and brought back to America would tend to eat away at the very fabric of American society and government.

That is precisely what has happened, except that instead of sending our children overseas to become politically, culturally, and religiously corrupted, we’ve now reversed the process, opening the floodgates to foreigners who bring their false conceptions of government and notions of liberty with them and implant them into our educational system and all throughout our governmental institutions.

We ourelves, not being well acquainted with the benefits of our own form of government which our founders bequeathed to us, we’re generally rendered intellectually incapable of recognizing false conceptions of liberty and arbitrary government for what they truly are. So it is that establishing national communism and centralization of governmental powers is not yet seen as a dangerous innovation on our system of government, and an existential threat to our society. It appears that we’re going to be forced to learn this the hard way.

But of course George Washington and our founding generation are seen by the left as a bunch of radical xenophobic nutjobs, and the original constitution as the product of same. Oh, they occasionally give them lip service, but it’s all just a ruse in the manner of Muslim religious deception, or taqiyya.

Dr. Keyes’ speech is all over the internet today. I think I saw at least 7 YouTubes of it up, hundreds of comments, thousands of views and blogs all over the place.

I guess he struck a nerve? LOL

Did anyone else notice how Olberman cut out the part of Dr. Keyes speech that had to do with Obama being in favor of letting babies who escaped abortion die?

I thought that was obvious. Olberman didn’t want the audience hearing that part!

It’s not just Coburn. McCotter made a few appearances on radio. He even has his own podcast now telling people what happened the day the Stimulus bill was passed.

The other day CNBC had Santelli going wild over the economy and the entire floor cheered.

Pelosi just got told off by the Pope. LOL

Nope, you’re not the only one.

Dr. Keyes: You’re not the only one out of your mind, I am too. I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks this way.

Insane my eye… who WATCHES MSNBC???

We are back to the comprehension thing here AGAIN…

If those people (“liberals”) think that they are going to take this country and turn it into what they want without a fight, they are insane. There are a lot of conservatives out here. We just need to put our potato chips down and stop waiting on a lot of our PASTORS to speak out – scared to lose that tax free status…

Tell me this… I saw an ad on your blog (I guess put there by Google?) so I went to it. Funniest thing I ever saw. It said something about “Welcome to the end of the Bush era” or something silly like that and then it was all kinds of Obama stuff for sale – even with his family on things! Is this how he is raising money for the criminulus package?

Maybe I will by something… oh shoot… I will have to borrow $13 from someone until I get my next check… can you spare a brother some “change?” I sure “hope” so!

    Dr. Keyes,

If you are insane, then I believe I will visit this blog more often in the hopes that the insanity will rub off on me, then perhaps we can weave baskets together at the “Funny Farm.”

Thank you for being so strong and so honest. Being a blogger myself, I have seen so many conservative blogs out here! If we all work together, we can help in the fight for our freedom!

Even Putin warned Obama not to repeat the Soviet Union’s mistakes!

  • Amoonsinger February 21, 2009, 2:41 pm

I have been reading your blog and you are so very well spoken. Thank you.

  • sailor February 21, 2009, 11:50 am

Dugg!! The fight is gaining steam…I am seeing more and more people starting to speak out. It is not just conervatives either. Keep up your good work Dr Keyes.

  • Terry Morris February 21, 2009, 9:41 am

Too bad you’re not in the Senate, Dr. Keyes, to stand alongside Senator Coburn and at least give him some moral support. Conservatism’s running pretty thin there these days.
